“We said we had failed and it is true – we didn’t succeed last year in getting the government to commit to a national retrofit and insulation program to Insulate Britain. But we are not finished trying. In court last week our campaign of civil resistance on the M25 was ruled to have been ‘proportionate’ and our supporters acquitted – they received a verdict of ‘not guilty’ on multiple charges. [1]
Our government is issuing kill policies against people living in Britain today. A study published last week found there were 334,327 excess deaths beyond the expected number in England, Wales and Scotland over the eight-year period from 2012-19 (prior to the pandemic) due to policies the government called ‘necessities’. [2]
Let us be clear, there is nothing ‘austere’ about the lifestyles of politicians yet they tell us there is no alternative. They kill thousands of the most vulnerable Brits so that a few rich can make billions.
This is our reality: in order to save and protect an economic theory, excess for a few, they are willing to issue kill policies. Liz Truss and her cabinet are willing to kill us in our hundreds of thousands. Hundreds of thousands of families, our elderly, disabled, and millions more of us choosing between heating, eating or essentials this winter due to our government’s dereliction of duty.
And beyond British borders, with hidden intent, they are willing to kill millions and millions of ordinary people like us, and displace billions of ordinary people away from their homes and livelihoods. This is the worst crime a government can commit.
With this in mind it’s no wonder that a judge has deemed sitting in the M25 for a short while as morally right and proportionate, and that by arresting and imprisoning us our human rights were interfered with by the state.
Being in nonviolent civil resistance is an act of self defence. Ordinary people are refusing to accept the rule of a treasonous government and have decided to resist their kill policies. Insulating Britain is the obvious thing to do. We no longer believe that politicians, like Liz or Kwasi, can get on with the job. WE now need to get on with it ourselves!” [3]

[1] Six of our supporters were acquitted last week at Horsham Magistrates Court for at least eighteen charges of Wilful Obstruction of the Highway relating to our campaign on the M25 last year; Di Bligh, Dr Diana Warner, Reverend Sue Parfitt, Oliver Rock, Steve Gower, and Benjamin Buse.
The dates and locations of the acquitted charges are; 13th September M25 J13/14 Stanwell, 13th September M25 J6 Godstone, 15th September M25 J8/9 Reigate, 17th September M25 J9 Leatherhead, 21st September M25 J9/10 Cobham.

1. That the UK government immediately promises to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025;
2. That the UK government immediately promises to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and take responsibility for the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit , with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030 as part of a just transition to full decarbonisation of all parts of society and the economy.
