BREAKING: ANOTHER SUPPORTER OF INSULATE BRITAIN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR ‘STICKING TWO FINGERS UP TO THE COURTS’, SAYS JUDGE

5th May 2022, 8am

Venetia Carter, 57, a tutor from Brighton was yesterday sentenced to two weeks in prison after she wrote ‘INSULATE BRITAIN’ on a wall at the front of Crawley Magistrates Court in blue, washable chalk spray paint on 4th April 2022 as an act of resistance against a legal system that is complicit in our governments genocidal treason.

Yesterday, Venetia pleaded guilty to a charge of Criminal Damage under £5000’ at Brighton Magistrates Court and was sentenced to two weeks in prison on account of her good character.  A source from inside the court stated that the presiding Judge appeared ‘cross’ and said in sentencing that Venetia was “sticking two fingers up to the courts”. [1]

Speaking from prison today Venetia said;

“The cost of living crisis is being driven by rising prices for oil and gas. Government support to enable all of us to properly insulate our homes will drive down our fuel bills while we transition to renewable energy.  Heat pumps are one way to change over from gas, but they are only going to be economical if our homes are well insulated.

The government just needs to get on with the job of cutting carbon emissions.  Insulating our homes is a win-win and could provide new green jobs as well as tackling fuel poverty and the climate crisis.

I’ve taken action with Insulate Britain because the government has failed to protect us from the climate crisis.  I feel so desperate about the future that I’ve done things I’d never dreamt I’d do like sitting on a motorway and facing arrest.  I feel they have no choice but to take this kind of action in the hope that it will jolt the government into doing what governments are meant to do: protect the people from harm.”

Venetia is the third supporter of Insulate Britain to be sentenced to prison in the last week. On Friday 29th April, Biff Whipster and Cllr Stephen Pritchard were both sentenced to 28 days in prison as a penalty for being found in Contempt of Court after stopping proceedings at their plea hearings by live-streaming and ‘gluing-on’ to inside the courtroom at Stratford Magistrates. A further 5 supporters were arrested at court on the same day but were later released from police custody under investigation. [2][3]

Speaking from prison today, Biff Whipster, 54, former Retail Worker from Canterbury said:

“I grew up thinking what happened in court is that intelligent people got together to weigh up evidence and the truth won the day. The trouble is, that’s bullshit. Justice has been bought and sold long ago. Stand for truth and you don’t get on, whether you work for the Crown Prosecution Service, police orJudiciary. The justice system has been honed and finely tuned over the years to keep bravery, honesty, integrity and acting with conscience out of ‘upholding law and order’. The elites have rigged the game to protect their deadly crimes. This is treason!”

A spokesperson for Insulate Britain said today;

“It is shameful that there are currently people in prison for doing what is right at this point in history. The criminalisation by the judiciary of ordinary people attempting to preserve lives and the very fabric of our society is abhorrent. We declare that the British legal system no longer has any legitimacy whatsoever in our eyes. The courts will continue to be a site of nonviolent civil resistance for as long as it takes for the UK Judiciary to do what is right which means refusing to criminalise peaceful members of the public who are desperately trying to save lives of their families, in their communities, in their country and around the world.”

About Insulate Britain

Insulate Britain is a campaign group that is calling on the UK government to put in place policy and funding for a national home insulation programme starting with all social housing.

We demand the Prime Minister and the government to #getonwiththejob, face up to their responsibility and lead our country through the cost of living crisis and the climate crisis.

We are ordinary people with simple and achievable demands to #INSULATEBRITAIN

The UK government must immediately promise to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation and retrofit of all social housing in Britain.

We demand a national home insulation strategy that gives British people the justice they deserve: a future for our loved ones, lower energy bills and safer living conditions.

We are scared: our livelihoods are at risk and the futures of our children are uncertain

The Climate Crisis is a threat to all: we demand the government to act now.

Our Demands

1. That the UK government immediately promises to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025;

2. That the UK government immediately promises to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and take responsibility for the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit , with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030 as part of a just transition to full decarbonisation of all parts of society and the economy.
